The airline’s network has grown to include 44 destinations

flydubai, the Dubai-based airline, continues to provide passengers with more opportunities to travel by introducing additional frequencies and adjusted flight times to improve connectivity across its network. The carrier has been steadily increasing its operations since July and now serves 44 destinations across Africa, Europe, Central Asia, the GCC and Middle East, and the Indian Subcontinent.

flydubai’s first flight to the Maldives touched down in Male’ on 27 October; marking the start of an up to four-times weekly service. Since the airline announced the new route, it has seen growing demand for flights to the Maldives and as a result it will operate daily flights, during the peak seasonal holiday period, from 17 December 2020 until 18 January 2021. In addition, the four-hour flight from Dubai arrives in Male’ at a convenient time to provide improved connectivity for onward travel by seaplane.

The Maldives is a popular destination which offers breath-taking beaches for those looking for a quiet secluded break and beautiful turquoise waters for those looking to be more active.

In line with the comprehensive COVID-19 safe tourism guidelines and hygiene certification programme issued by the Maldivian Ministry of Tourism, all 156 resorts situated in the island nation are following the protective measures, ensuring the safety of tourists and staff.

Across its network, flydubai continues to increase the frequency of flights to a number of its destinations. From 29 October, flydubai will operate four flights a week to Sarajevo, a popular destination which offers beautiful nature and fascinating architecture. From 22 October, services to the Iraqi city of Najaf increased to three flights a week and flights to Erbil will increase to six flights a week from 09 November offering improved connectivity through Dubai’s aviation hub. flydubai is operating a twice-weekly service to Zanzibar offering a tropical getaway renowned for its natural beauty and only a five-and-a-half-hour flight from Dubai.

Commenting on flydubai’s growing network, Hamad Obaidalla, Chief Commercial Officer at flydubai, said: “we initially saw our passengers travelling to see their family and friends. As more countries have opened up for tourism we are now seeing more passengers travel for leisure to enjoy their first holiday of the year. Whilst the pandemic has changed the way we travel we can be reassured that the safety measures taken at the airport, on board our flights and at the destination provide a safe environment to travel again with peace of mind.”

flydubai has recently introduced a new COVID-19 cover to encourage more people to travel with ease of mind knowing that they will be looked after at every step of their journey. Passengers booking with flydubai for travel until 30 November 2020 will automatically receive free global cover for COVID-19. The new service covers passengers’ health expenses and quarantine costs if diagnosed with COVID-19 during their trip.

In the UAE, flydubai has also partnered with Aster DM Healthcare and NMC Healthcare to offer passengers PCR testing at special rates. To take advantage of these special rates, passengers must be able to present a valid flydubai booking confirmation along with their Emirates ID or passport copy.

flydubai’s passenger experience has been redesigned to enable travel in a safe environment that minimises crew and passenger contact and more information is available on flydubai.com. Passengers are required to make sure that they are up to date with the regulations from the IATA Travel Centre for their whole journey and follow the guidance issued by the authorities and the airline.
