flydubai begins flights to Rostov-on-Don

Airline provides direct air link between Rostov-on-Don and Dubai

flydubai’s inaugural flight from Dubai to Rostov-on-Don was held this weekend, opening a direct route between the two cities.

Rostov-on-Don is the airline’s eighth destination in Russia and is due to become one of the first to offer flydubai’s new Business Class service.

flydubai’s inaugural flight to Rostov-on-Don, flight FZ98, departed at 2220hrs on Friday 11 October from Terminal 2 at Dubai International Airport, arriving at Rostov-on-Don Airport on Saturday 12 October at 0240hrs local time. The aircraft was greeted by a water cannon salute. Passengers travelling from Rostov-on-Don will now be able to directly access Dubai International Airport, the second busiest airport in the world.  The airport provides passengers with access to more than 200 destinations from Australia to South America.

Commenting on the launch, flydubai’s Chief Executive Officer, Ghaith Al Ghaith, said: “Rostov-on-Don is an economically active city becoming one of the business hubs in south Russia. The launch underlines our commitment to serve the Russian market and we are delighted to be the first UAE- based carrier to establish this new route.”

Rostov-on-Don will also become one of the first Russian destinations where flydubai will introduce its brand new Business Class service. The option will be available for travellers starting from 19 November.

“We expect that the development of the local economy and hosting landmark events in the city, such as the 2018 FIFA World Cup, are likely to create high demand for business travel, making Rostov-on-Don an attractive destination for us,” Al Ghaith added.

flydubai commenced its operations in Russia in October 2010 with Samara and Yekaterinburg, which were followed by Kazan and Ufa in 2011. This year flydubai has doubled its presence in Russia with the opening of four new destinations: Mineralnye Vody, Volgograd, Krasnodar and Rostov-on-Don.

With the establishment of regular flights to Dubai by flydubai, residents of Rostov-on-Don and its neighbouring regions can reach this famous destination within four hours and experience its luxury hotels, shopping malls, world-known restaurants and tourist attractions such as the Burj Khalifa skyscraper, the tallest man-made structure in the world.

Travellers may also continue their journey to a variety of destinations that flydubai offers to its passengers, including Sri Lanka and the Maldives. flydubai’s international network covers more than 65 destinations in the Middle East, GCC, Africa, the Indian Subcontinent, the Caucasus, Central Asia, Russia and Ukraine.
