flydubai inaugurates direct flight from Dubai to Bratislava

Bratislava among five new Central and Southeast European routes offered in response to increasing travel demand

Dubai-based airline flydubai has recently added Bratislava to its growing network, making it the first carrier to provide flexible and convenient flights between the two cities.

This addition is one of five new routes launched by flydubai from its hub at Dubai International, the world’s second busiest airport. The announcement marks a significant expansion of flydubai’s footprint across Central and Southeast Europe, and brings the number of route launches to 23 in 2014.

flydubai was established in 2008 to drive opportunities for travel, tourism and trade and enhance connectivity between Dubai and the rest of the Middle East, GCC, Africa, Caucasus, Central Asia, Europe and the Indian Subcontinent.

Commenting on the launch of the inaugural flight, Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer at flydubai, said: “At flydubai we aim to provide customers with convenient and affordable routes to traditionally underserved locations, and we are very pleased to add Bratislava to our growing list of destinations. This new route will offer choice for passengers who are looking to connect through Dubai, a global trade, travel and tourism hub, to a population across the Middle East, Africa and South Asia, numbering over 2.5 billion people.”

flydubai was recently recognised at the 2014 CAPA Awards for Excellence in Aviation as the most innovative and influential carrier in its peer group and to date has built a network of 86 destinations, 54 of which were previously underserved from Dubai. Over the last six years, the airline has established a fleet of 43 new Next-Generation Boeing 737-800 aircraft and operates more than 1,300 flights a week.

The location of the new route will allow for alternative travel options into neighbouring countries that all lie in easy reach. Passengers travelling Economy Class on the new Bratislava route will have access to interactive audio and video seat back entertainment systems with more than 1000 hours of films, television and music.

In addition to this, passengers will have the option of a Business Class experience, benefitting from a dedicated 24-hour Business Team to assist with bookings and enquiries throughout the journey, as well as priority check-in service, comfortable spacious seats and a range of in-flight entertainment and dining options.

In addition to Dubai’s extensive investment in infrastructure, with airports rivalling those of established air transport centres around the world, the UAE Government has introduced visa on arrival services for 46 nationalities including Slovakia, to ease travel and stimulate bilateral business and tourism exchanges.

Dubai is one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations, offering visitors a variety of attractions and experiences including international sporting and music events, and aims to attract 20 million tourists by 2020, the year in which the city will host Expo.

flydubai operates two direct flights per week between Dubai International’s Terminal 2 and Bratislava’s M. R. Stefanik Airport. Economy Class return fares from Bratislava start at EUR 410 including 20kg checked baggage, while Business Class return fares will start at EUR 1,300 and are inclusive of all taxes and 40kg checked baggage.

Flights can be purchased from flydubai’s website (flydubai.com), its local number +421 244 251 774 or flydubai travel shops or through travel partners. Further information and details of the carrier’s car rental and travel insurance services can also be found on flydubai.com.
