flydubai premieres exclusive FREEJ film
Low cost carrier joins forces with the first 3D animated series in the Middle East for new safety video
Monday, December 19, 2011 — flydubai, the world's fastest growing start-up airline ever, is pioneering on board safety demonstrations in the Middle East by implementing an exclusive animated video from the makers of the popular FREEJ™ cartoon series.
The 3D animation, shown in English and Arabic, features the four Grandmothers from the FREEJ™ series being taken through the safety briefing. To ensure an accurate briefing, the animators filmed one of flydubai's senior cabin crew members before creating a new cabin crew character.
Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of flydubai, said: "Our collaboration with FREEJ™ is another example of flydubai's innovative approach to customer experience. The safety demonstration is a vital part of every flight but we wanted to deliver the information in an original yet informative way.
"When we decided to create a video, we naturally thought of FREEJ™, as it is not only the most successful Emirati animation series, but it engages audiences of all ages, which encourages passengers to watch and take note of the important safety briefing.
The film will be broadcast through flydubai's revolutionary 'Fiber-To-The-Screen®' In-Flight Entertainment screens, which are fitted into every seat back on flydubai's latest fleet of Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft. flydubai also worked closely with the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) to ensure it meets all the legal safety requirements.
The FREEJ™ series celebrates the culture and traditions of the UAE as told through the eyes of four grandmothers, living in a secluded neighborhood in modern day Dubai.
Its creator, Mohammed Saeed Harib, said: "This was a very exciting project to take on. There is great brand compatibility between FREEJ™ and flydubai, as we are both young and inventive brands that have become household names very quickly. The series is already watched by families all over the Middle East and we are delighted to be able to introduce it to new audiences across the flydubai network."
flydubai has a simple model where customers only pay for services they want to receive. Fares are inclusive of all taxes plus one piece of hand luggage weighing up to 7kg and one small laptop bag or hand bag. Checked baggage starts at AED 50 for 20kgs. A seat with extra legroom costs AED100.
flydubai operates from the modernised Terminal 2 building on the north side of Dubai International Airport.
