flydubai takes off on Facebook

Airline launches social networking page to engage with fans

Innovative Dubai-based flydubai has announced the launch of its official Facebook page.

The airline plans to use the popular social media channel to engage with fans through news updates, product and network information, promotions and competitions.

With more than 25,000 people having already liked its Facebook page before the first post, flydubai plans to build a community of fans across the 35 countries it flies to. The page will be in English but some geo-targetted posts will be made in Arabic and Russian. flydubai’s Facebook page can be found at www.facebook.com/flydubai.

“We are very excited to be launching Facebook, the cornerstone of our social media presence, which we will continue to develop going forward,” said Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of flydubai. “We place great value on listening to our customers, as the recent introduction of our Business Class shows. Giving our customers a platform such as Facebook to communicate with us will help us reflect their feedback and better meet their needs.”

flydubai is already present on YouTube with nearly half a million views, became active on LinkedIn last year with more than 13,000 followers and more recently launched Instagram, which has over 1,300 fans.
