flydubai takes off to second Egyptian destination

flydubai, Dubai’s first low cost airline, notched up its 15th destination last night when its inaugural flight to the ancient Egyptian city of Luxor took off from Dubai International Airport’s Terminal 2

flydubai, Dubai’s first low cost airline, notched up its 15th destination last night when its inaugural flight to the ancient Egyptian city of Luxor took off from Dubai International Airport’s Terminal 2.

Luxor is the airline’s second destination in Egypt after Alexandria and will be followed on Monday, May 24, by its third, Assiut, the largest town in Upper Egypt.

Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of flydubai, said: “ “Our flights to Alexandria have proved to be extremely popular and it is on the back of this success that we have launched our second Egyptian destination. Flights to our third destination in Egypt, Assuit, are just around the corner.”

Al Ghaith said: “I would like to thank the Egyptian authorities for their excellent support. We look forward to continuing this close relationship and providing affordable, high quality and low cost travel access for both UAE and Egyptian travellers.”

Luxor is synonymous with ancient Egyptian history, being home to famous archeological sites such as the Valley of the Kings and the Temple of Karnak.

Visiting the land of the Pharoahs has never been better value with flydubai offering three weekly flights to Luxor priced from just AED 350.

Local official said: “flydubai’s new service to Luxor is a welcome boost for tourism and will encourage more and more travellers from the Gulf to experience one of Egypt’s most famous cities.”

FZ183 departs Dubai International Airport’s Terminal 2 at 2255hrs and lands in Luxor at 0135hrs local time the following day. The return flight, FZ184, leaves Luxor at 0220hrs and arrives back in Dubai at 0645hrs local time.

Flights can be purchased on flydubai’s website (flydubai.com), through the call centre (+9714 301 0800) and from travel agents.

The flydubai model is simple, with customers paying only for the services they want to receive. The ticket price includes all taxes and one piece of hand baggage, weighing up to 10kg, per passenger.

Passengers have the option to purchase checked-in baggage in advance at just AED60 for the first piece and AED150 for the second, weighing up to 32kgs, subject to availability.  Checked baggage at the airport is also strictly subject to availability and passengers are advised to book online early to secure the space, as only pre-purchased baggage can be guaranteed.

A nominal payment of AED5 allows customers to select their seat and just AED100 secures the extra legroom positions. Bookings can be changed for a small fee, plus any difference in the fare, and food and drink can be purchased on board.

flydubai operates from a modernised and enhanced Terminal 2 on the north side of Dubai International Airport.
