flydubai touches down in Chisinau

The first direct air link between the United Arab Emirates and Moldova

Today, Dubai-based flydubai completed its inaugural flight to Chisinau, the Republic of Moldova’s capital. 

FZ789 departed Dubai International Airport Terminal 2 at 1030hrs and arrived in Chisinau at 1345hrs local time.Flight was was welcomed  on-ground by a ceremonial  water cannon salute, and Moldavian official delegation headed by Prime-Minister Lurie Leancă, flydubai’s Chief Executive Officer, Ghaith Al Ghaith.

During the reception inside the airport terminal, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, Lurie Leancă, stated: “We are very pleased to welcome flydubai to Chisinau. These direct flights between Dubai and Chisinau will significantly increase Moldova’s attractiveness to investors and will have a positive effect on tourism: Two key elements of our foreign policy.”

Launch of flydubai flights to Moldova follows the signing of an agreement between the governments of the UAE and Moldova, creating the legal basis for the operation of regular flights to Chisinau.

Commenting on the inaugural flight, flydubai’s Chief Executive Officer, Ghaith Al Ghaith, said: “We welcome Chisinau as a new point in flydubai’s route network in Europe and a promising tourist destination for tourists from Middle East. We stay committed to our strategy on connecting Dubai to previously underserved markets and are proud to be the first air carrier to establish a direct link between Dubai and Chisinau and we look forward to welcoming tourists from Moldova to the United Arab Emirates.”

flydubai was launched in 2009 and now offers flights to 66 destinations across 35 countries. Chisinau represents flydubai’s 18th destination in Europe (including Russia and Ukraine).

Residents of Moldova will now have the opportunity to travel directly to Dubai, which is known as both a dynamic business centre and a tourist paradise. They will be able to enjoy the picturesque beaches, visit the tallest building in the world, Burj Khalifa, shop in the world’s largest shopping mall and experience the region’s rich culture and heritage.

Flight Information

Flights to Chisinau will operate twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays. The duration of the flight is 5 hours and 15 minutes. Return fares from Dubai to Chisinau start from AED 1,675. Return fares from Chisinau to Dubai start from EUR 340.

The timings are as follows:

Dubai – Chisinau: FZ789 departs at 1030hrs and arrives at 1345hrs.

Chisinau – Dubai: FZ790 departs at 1445hrs and arrives at 2130hrs.

Fares are inclusive of all taxes, 20kg checked baggage, one piece of hand luggage weighing up to 7kg and one small laptop bag or handbag. A seat with extra legroom costs AED 100. Once on board, passengers can choose from a range of optional extras, including in-flight entertainment packages priced from AED 15 or select from the varied menu of refreshments and Duty Free items.
