Monday, March 1, 2010 — Dubai as a business and leisure destination will be more accessible and affordable from March 28th this year when flydubai, Dubai’s first low-cost airline, starts twice daily flights to Muscat.
The Omani capital will be flydubai’s twelfth destination overall and third in the GCC. The new double daily service is expected to be highly popular with business people, visitors and tourists and will give travellers the opportunity to travel more often.
Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of flydubai said: “A strong GCC network is at the heart of flydubai’s strategy and as an old friend and dear neighbour Oman was a natural choice as our next destination. We are making a strong commitment to serving and expanding this route, and we thank the authorities in Oman for their help and support to make this announcement possible. flydubai looks forward to a long and successful relationship with Oman and to doing our part to strengthening the relationship between Oman and the UAE.”
“For Omanis, Dubai is already an often visited cosmopolitan centre for business and leisure. Its many cultural festivities, international and regional events and exhibitions also attract a growing number of residents throughout the year,” he said.
“While business is also a reason for travel from Dubai to Muscat, it is the country’s beautiful scenery, pristine beaches and mountains that have become a popular haven for relaxation and leisure – this new service will definitely support Oman’s important tourism sector,” he said.
“We are delighted to be able to strengthen our ties by providing an alternate air travel option and the best low-cost air service between Oman and Dubai at the lowest prices,” he added.
The twice daily flights from Oman cost from just OMR 23 one way including all taxes and one piece of hand baggage weighing up to 10kg. Bookings can be made from the website (flydubai.com), call centre (+968 24661815) and travel agents from today.
