OPEN, rewards by flydubai makes its debut at the Arabian Travel Market

Dubai-based carrier, flydubai, showcased for the first time at the Arabian Travel Market its new rewards programme “OPEN”. The programme, launched six months ago, has been well received across the region and is gaining more popularity as it adds more partners and offers for its members.

The programme, which is designed to make earning and spending reward points simple and straightforward, with no minimum balances or blackout dates, has attracted members from more than 200 nationalities to date. The highest number of members came from India with 12% of the overall membership. The second largest number of members came from Pakistan followed by Saudi Arabia, Russia and the UAE; a reflection of the diversity of the flydubai network and its customer profile.

Commenting on the newly launched rewards programme, Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer of flydubai said: “We have redefined the way people travel around the region giving them the freedom to choose what to spend when they fly for business or leisure. We hope that our passengers have seen the benefits of this simple and straightforward rewards programme and continue to enjoy the latest offers and partnerships.”

Since the launch of the programme 50% of the accrual and redemption of the reward points came from its “OPEN” members residing in the UAE followed by Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Lebanon. Around 60% of the “OPEN” rewards members are between the ages of 31 and 50, while 25% are between the ages of 21 and 30.

Nahed Al Kheily, Vice President of Ancillary Revenue at flydubai said: “flydubai is committed to introducing product innovations that enhance the overall customer experience. We’ve designed this rewards programme to be less restrictive, instantly rewarding, transparent and straight-to-the-point. OPEN was designed to reward members for every dollar they spend with us.  We are expanding our partnerships with more hospitality, lifestyle and retail brands enabling our OPEN members to earn reward points for their transactions and continue to redeem these points to pay for flydubai flights, upgrades and optional extras for any trip, on any day, to any destination.”

OPEN, rewards by flydubai has launched a first of its kind co-branded credit card with Dubai Islamic Bank in the UAE which allows card members to earn up to three times more points on purchases locally or internationally.
