Sabre and flydubai sign distribution and technology agreements

Dubai's first low-cost carrier now available on Sabre GDS; airline also buys flight scheduling technology

Sabre Travel Network, the world's leading provider of travel technology, and flydubai, have signed a multi-year global distribution agreement, providing the carrier access to more than 350,000 Sabre travel agency users around the world.

The new agreement will provide Sabre-connected travel agents around the world the ability to book the carrier's fares in the coming months.

Hamish Broom, Sabre Travel Network director of distribution for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said: "Our new agreement with flydubai gives our agency customers greater choice and relevant content in growth regions like the Middle East. Agents can be assured of receiving the airline's content through the GDS, as well as our commitment to work with them on an easy way to pay for and settle new ancillary services."

flydubai has also signed an agreement to use flight scheduling technology provided by Sabre Airline Solutions, the world's leading provider of airline and airport technology. Part of Sabre Airline Solutions' network and planning suite, the flight scheduling solution is expected to generate up to 2% of incremental revenue for the airline by improving its use of aircraft and the efficiency of passenger connections.

"Today's announcement highlights the great partnership we have with Sabre. We have enjoyed great success since we were established as Dubai's first low-cost carrier two years ago, and now we are putting in place key initiatives to really accelerate our growth. Working with the world's largest GDS, Sabre, gives us global reach and enables us to take our business to the next level, while Sabre's flight scheduling technology will help us maximise our fleet and provide an even better experience for our customers," said flydubai CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith.
