Thirty Destinations for flydubai

Dubai’s first low cost airline lands in Chittagong, Bangladesh

flydubai, Dubai’s first low cost airline, made its first entry into the Bangladeshi market last night when flight FZ587 touched down at 2020hrs in Chittagong.

The flight, to flydubai’s 30th destination, arrived at Chittagong’s Shah Amanat International Airport and was greeted by a VIP delegation, who were present to welcome flydubai’s Chief Operating Officer Hamad Obaidalla, who travelled on the flight.

The VIP delegation included Engineer Mohsharraf Hossain, Member of Parliament, Chairman of Standing Committee of Civil Aviation Affairs, Mr Sirajul Islam Khan, Divisional Commissioner and Mr Foyez Ahmed, District Commisioner of Chittagong, as well as senior airport and business leaders.

Obaidalla said: “Reaching 30 destinations in such a short space of time is a tremendous achievement for flydubai and I am very proud to be here to celebrate this moment.

“2011 is going to be a year in which we experience many more occasions to celebrate as we continue our growth, providing passengers with the opportunity to travel more often and to a wider range of places,” he said.

“Our first service to Bangladesh is indicative of the variety of destinations we wish to offer our passengers. In adding this route to our network, we not only provide somewhere new and interesting for people to discover, but it is also a valuable option to many of the Bangladeshi community that live in Dubai, giving them an affordable, quality travel choice back to their home country.

“The Chittagong service will give passengers even greater travel flexibility when it becomes a daily service in March,” he added.

Chittagong is a major city in Bangladesh, home to a major sea port and rich with industry, commerce and business in addition to the wealth of history and culture found there. It is a popular tourist destination, being set in green forests in hill country, but also close to sandy beaches.

flydubai offers four times a week flights from Dubai to Chittagong, with the service operating on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
